As a designer, pencil is the tool that we use a lot to bring our minds on a paper and sharping the pencil repeatedly makes you tired and you need to be careful to have your desired sharpness, so I came up with an idea to have an electric pencil sharpener which is easy and desirable.
Extreme simplicity and minimalistic design. You start sharpening by pushing the pencil and once it's sharp you feel it in your fingers
Prototyping
In order to make this prototype, the design and production of inner parts were impossible and I needed to use common electronic parts. Thus, I chose the layer technique with MDF material so that I was able to cut the desired shapes and embedded the parts.
First, I prepared and precisely measured all the parts such as the electric motor, switch, springs, socket, blade, epicyclic gear, and etc.
Next, all data was imported to Rhino software, and MDF(with 2.8mm thickness) sections were designed in order to fit the parts accurately.
Finally, the sections were cut by laser and sticked to each other using glue.
